Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match in Savar. Veteran opener Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency angioplasty to remove an artery blockage. Doctors said he had suffered a heart attack.
The dramatic incident occurred when Tamim, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club, fielded for just one over before he suffered chest discomfort. However, his condition deteriorated, forcing him to be taken back to the original hospital in a critical condition. Medical examination confirmed an artery blockage, which required immediate intervention. “He was in good spirits during the toss,” BKSP head cricket coach Montu Dutta told reporters. “When he felt unwell, he left the field and went to the hospital on his own.”

Doctors initially advised him not to go out, but he insisted, and arrangements were made for an air ambulance. A medical bulletin later confirmed the seriousness of his condition. "He returned to us in a critical state. It was a heart attack, and we performed an angiogram and angioplasty to remove the blockage. The procedure was successful, and he is currently under observation. Quick coordination between the BKSP medical staff and the hospital ensured he received timely treatment," the statement said.
